As well as weekly races, the club also has a very busy social calendar! Every year there is the pre-marathon meal, Christmas eve run at Irchester park and Christmas meal with awards.
Several other various events take place across the year, and Long Chatty Runs (LCRs) are informally organised several weekends in the build up to marathon season.
An invitation to everyone (not just those running a marathon this year) to a pre-marathon ‘carb-loading’ meal...OK, so it’s just an excuse to have a get-together but what the heck!!
Please let Neil know via by selecting 'Attending' on the Facebook invite or via email if you’d like to come along. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
The restaurant is Vivo in Burton Latimer which is very nice and they have a special ‘party menu’ for us which you will be able to view and select from using this form. You can choose either starter + main or main + dessert and there will be house wine and water on the table for us… it’s only £15 per person. We need to pre-order from the menu and Neil will need a £5 deposit from everyone by Friday 21st March and you pay the remaining £10 on the night. Obviously if people want additional drinks they can be ordered from the bar etc.
So come along and celebrate with those who are running, supporting or training for marathons this year!
The annual W&DAC Christmas party will this year be held on Friday 6th December. Tickets can now be purchased through the website. Tickets are £25 and are currently limited to one per club member. There will be a DJ as usual at the school venue.
Come and join us for some friendly social Christmassy laps of Irchester Country Park on Tuesday 24th December at 9:30am. The run will be followed by either a free bacon, sausage or veggie roll and a free coffee, tea or hot chocolate from the cafe - paid for by the club as a Christmas gift to you!
There will be no club at the school on Thursday 31st October (Halloween) but instead we will be based at the Quarryman's Cafe in Irchester Country Park. There we will have a mixed group club night to run the 'scary park in the dark!' So - high viz and head torches are essential items, plus any other form of illumination you see fit!
FANCY DRESS IS OPTIONAL BUT WILL MAKE THE WHOLE THING A LOT MORE FUN!!!
There will be no parking charges and the cafe car park (bottom of the hill in the park itself) will be open for our use (please car share if possible though). The cafe will be open late to serve hot food and drinks (plus alcohol is you fancy!) - this can be purchased over the counter on the night.
"Watch out on the run though as there might be a few surprises in store on the way?!?!?!?!"
Fancy a club night out with difference?... On Friday the 26th July at 8pm join other Welly club members at The Castle to see stand up comedy from some of the best young talent on the curcuit The cost will £12.50 per person and there will be the option of food and drink on the night for £5.00 if that takes your fancy. Last year's Welly Wobble event was such a success it's back again this year with hopes for another fantastic night!
As part of our club 20 year celebrations in 2012, runners from all six running groups ran between 20 different pubs during the evening of the bank holiday set aside for the Jubilee.
This year, Neil's first event as WDAC Social Secretary will take place in the form of Welly Wobble 2 on Saturday the 29th June 2013. Not only do we like to run, but we like to run to pubs! So if you are of the same mindset, make sure that you are a member of our Facebook group and click 'Attending' to the event Neil has added to the group. Details of the route and starting point to follow...
You might think you're good at running, but can you hit a ball?! Come join us for an informal evening of Rounders fun at Irchester Country Park on Thursday the 27th June. There will be NO formal running training on this evening as coaches will be competing too!
