The Vice Chairman, Coach and Mens Team Captain - Tim Ellwood

A special thanks this week to the ladies team captain Sarah for asking the questions you all wanted to know!

How long have you been running and why did you start in the first place?

I have been running on and off for the last 15 years, but on a regular basis since about summer of 2000. I ran originally just to keep fit, and then as I started to beat my neighbour on our Saturday afternoon jaunts I started to enjoy it more. When Stuart H. Mentioned he was going to do the great North run I said flippantly ‘I would give that a go’ and absolutely loved it.

What has been your favourite event and why?

Any Long distance event, especially Three peaks challenge and X Wales. Running up mountains and your legs are burning Perspiring like a race horse, but crawling like a Tortoise, and then flying down the mountain, the adrenaline pumping that element of danger as the rocks, gravel and mud slide under your feet. It’s just a great buzz. Finishing X Wales first last year, With Jon was just amazing. For an average club runner actually winning something was fantastic.

Are there any events that you would still like to do?

Marathon of Britain my aim for next year. 175 miles in six days self navigation carrying everything you need, camping out in whatever the weather. Has to be done! Sarah and Steve Adams have promised to join me. Lets Hope we can make it. I have also promised myself if possible to run from John O’Groats to Lands end. Before I die.

As one of the clubs star coaches, how do you think of those great training schedules?

My training schedules! I should let you in to a secret but if I do I’ll have to kill you.

As a committee member, how have you enjoyed being Tony’s vice?

Tony’s Vice, Well where do I start! Tony, Tony, Tony, Oh Tony! I will leave it to your imagination.

What do you like about the club?

A great bunch of people who have different sets of goals but an interest in looking after themselves and keeping fit. The Social occasions Krov it will take some topping.

Does pulling out weeds improve your pbs?

Believe me it could if you put the effort in. I will get you all lined up in the field one day and surprise you. Just watch this space.

Why are you so handsome?

Well if I tell you that you would all copy obviously, making more competition when it comes to PULLING THE LADIES. Sorry Tony I haven’t forgotten you.

Known for throwing yourself off waterfalls, is there anything that you wouldn't do?

I absolutely hate roundabouts, anything that spins round and round. I won’t even go on the kiddies roundabouts in the park. Not because I’m scared they just make me feel sick.

Tell us about your ...Most embarrassing running moment?

Embarrassed Me? No chance!

Proudest running moment?

I haven’t really got anything that jumps to mind. Possibly my first Marathon as I crossed the line

The one thing that you would like to achieve?

3 hour or less marathon.

Pre race diet / preparation?

Sensible head when I can find it Night before Pasta and spicy homemade tomato sauce Not so sensible head 10 pints of the cool dark liquid fondly known as Guinness

Running heroes?

David Bedford, Big Tony of course, Tom Wildman.
